Virat Kohli Rests For India Vs West Indies T20I Series

Virat Kohli has requested for rest from the upcoming India vs West Indies T20I series, while Ravichandran Ashwin has been recalled and Shikhar Dhawan is a back-up batsman for the limited overs team. Both Virat Kohli and Ashwin have been rested, but Shimron Hetmyer has been left out of the West Indies squad. India will be looking to make amends for this loss, and they will be looking to do that through a series win.

Virat Kohli asked for rest

India are preparing to play a white ball series against the Caribbean islands after the England series. Kohli has been out of form recently and has asked for rest before the upcoming ODI against West Indies. The BCCI said Kohli will miss the first ODI in London because of a groin strain that he suffered during the last game. Kohli did not travel with the team bus from Nottingham to London, but he could have taken a medical checkup.

The BCCI announced an 18-man squad for the T20I series against the Windies, but Virat Kohli was not included in it. Kohli and star bowler Jasprit Bumrah have been rested due to grueling schedules. The decision has been questioned by several former Indian cricketers. Former Indian bowler RP Singh questioned the decision, saying Kohli would not regain his best form if he is rested.

Ravichandran Ashwin recalled

Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has been recalled after being dropped from the team for the recent ODI series against South Africa. India were defeated by 0-3 in the one-day international series. The Board of Control for Cricket in India have not yet revealed the reason for Ashwin’s absence. The Times of India has reported the reason for Ashwin’s omission.

The BCCI, the richest cricket body in the world, has recalled the spinner despite Ashwin’s injury concerns. Ashwin was dropped from the Indian T20I team after just one T20I outing in November. This selection was made following the BCCI’s decision to field Ashwin in the T20I World Cup without Virat Kohli. Aakash Chopra has raised questions about the BCCI’s decision to recall Ashwin to the team.

Shikhar Dhawan captain

In the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, India will once again be led by the batting legend Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan will become the 8th Indian captain since Rahul Dravid in 2017. In contrast, Sri Lanka’s seven captains were all younger players. Here are some things to watch out for when India captains a team in this ODI series:

India are preparing for the series with a change of captain and Rohit Sharma has rested for the West Indies series. Rohit Sharma, who led India to a series win in England, has been rested. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the ODIs, while Ravindra Jadeja will serve as his deputy. The West Indies have lost four of their five previous ODI series against India, while India have won nine of the sixteen T20Is.

Shimron Hetmyer left out of West Indies squad

The batting star’s absence from the West Indies squad was another blow to his already shaky career, but Kieron Pollard has maintained that the team is not giving up on the talented opener. Hetmyer was left out of the West Indies squad for the recent series against England and Ireland due to a fitness issue. The player had also failed to meet the fitness requirements for the ongoing India tour.

The West Indies have selected their XI for the upcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka, citing workload management as the main reason for leaving Evin Lewis out of the squad. The Windies’ five-match T20I squad will include Dominic Drakes, Roston Chase, and Sheldon Cottrell. Rovman Powell and Kyle Mayers were also added to the squad. Alzarri Joseph will also miss the tour due to a leg injury.

Shikhar Dhawan’s ODI fifty

The ICC Champions Trophy was won by India in 2013 and Shikhar Dhawan made history by becoming the first player to score back-to-back centuries in IPL history. The performance earned him Player of the Tournament honors at the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Shikhar Dhawan’s ODI fifty against the West Indies was his third hundred in ODI cricket.

India lost the match, but Dhawan made up for the loss by scoring a century in the final ODI against West Indies. He scored a century off 73 deliveries, making sure to hit 18 fours. The opener’s first 24 runs were all boundaries. The century was Dhawan’s fifth ODI ton, and the batsman also has five half-centuries in ODI cricket. Dhawan also made a century stand with Rohit Sharma at The Oval, which helped India win the game.
